Managing Real-Time Progress Tracking
Real-time progress updates were crucial to keep employees motivated and engaged. The system needed to update course progress and badges in real-time to reflect user achievements instantly.
Solution
- We implemented SignalR for real-time communication between the frontend and backend.
- Whenever an employee completed a course or earned a badge, the system instantly updated their progress on the portal, providing immediate feedback and rewarding achievements.
Scalability and Data Management
The platform needed to handle a large number of employees accessing courses simultaneously, while also storing and processing large amounts of data (e.g., course progress, certifications).
Solution
- By using ASP.NET Core Web API and SQL Server, we ensured a robust backend that could efficiently handle high traffic and large datasets.
- SQL Server’s optimized data indexing and querying allowed us to maintain performance while scaling up the system for a large number of concurrent users.
Ensuring a User-Friendly Experience for Employees
The platform had to be intuitive, engaging, and easy to navigate for employees, especially those who may not be tech-savvy.
Solution
- To ensure a seamless experience, we used Angular Material for a professional, user-friendly UI.
- The UI/UX team focused on simple navigation, clear call-to-action buttons, and engaging visual elements. The design followed Material Design principles, providing consistency across all components.
Role-Based Access Control
The platform had to support different roles (e.g., employees, managers, and administrators) with varying levels of access and privileges.
Solution
- We implemented role-based access control (RBAC) using IdentityServer for authentication and authorization.
- This allowed for granular control over which users could access specific parts of the platform, ensuring that employees only interacted with their relevant courses and progress, while managers and admins had access to employee performance data and reporting tools.
Integrating Gamification Elements
Incorporating gamification, such as badges, rewards, and certificates, had to be seamless and motivational for employees to engage with the content.
Solution
- We used NgRx for efficient state management, ensuring that gamification features like badges and rewards were updated in real-time.
- Chart.js visualized employee progress, creating interactive graphs to display completed courses, earned badges, and learning milestones.
